Cryopreservation

Cryopreservation of your valuable genetically modified mouse lines offers an archive to safeguard the lines from accidental loss and genetic drifting, to reduce animal housing cost, and to efficiently distribute them around the world. Mouse sperm and embryo are cryopreserved and stored in liquid nitrogen for recovery of live mice at a future date.

It offers a wide range of benefits, including:
  • saving money and resources when the colony is not in use;
  • freeing up valuable animal space for current and new research projects;
  • protecting against genetic drift or spontaneous loss of a phenotype;
  • guarding against infection, diseases and breeding cessation; and
  • allowing easy distribution to collaborators or other institutions.

Sperm Cryopreservation

We offer sperm cryopreservation as an easy and cost-effective option to preserve your mouse strain. This method works best with single-gene mutations and common genetic backgrounds but is available to all mouse lines.

Embryo Cryopreservation

We offer embryo cryopreservation as a highly effective way to preserve your strain. This method is recommended for lines with multiple genetic mutations or uncommon/ mixed genetic backgrounds.
