In support of the Animal Ethics and Experimentation Committee (AEEC), LASEC offers training courses for CUHK units engaged in biomedical research to improve animal welfare. These courses are open to all staff & students holding appropriate AEEC approval and Form 2 License from the Health Department. Courses are free of charge, can be tailored to suit specific project needs, and can include lectures or hands-on workshops.
Lectures typically last 1.5 to 2 hours, while hands-on workshops take approximately 2-3 hours.
Peter Eguia is the new Training Officer for LASEC. He has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines, a Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist from the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), and currently completing his Master in Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. He is responsible for ensuring continuous training of LASEC staff and researchers, to demonstrate and maintain the requisite competency.
