Facilities

On campus we have a full barrier facility for breeding SPF rodents as well as other animals, together with a large animal facility to house pigs and goats.

There is ample space for researchers to conduct their studies at LASEC, whilst also benefiting from the expert care and husbandry their animals receive on a daily basis.

For researchers wishing to work with carcinogens or pathogens, there is an ABSL2 facility present, suitably equipped with biosafety cabinets and individually ventilated cages.

At the LASEC Research Unit in Prince of Wales Hospital, there are also animal holding areas, and surgical rooms available for conducting your research.
