Biosecurity

Biosecurity & Institutional Policies
To maintain the Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) status of CUHK animal facilities, the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (AEEC) have endorsed two key institutional policies:
  • VCP-002/v1: Biosecurity and Pathogen Exclusion
  • VCP-003/v1: Screening and Restriction of Biological Materials

These policies establish mandatory procedures to minimize bio-contamination risks. They are critical to safeguarding the MHV-negative status recently achieved across all CUHK facilities through our successful eradication program.

Health Surveillance
LASEC conducts rigorous health monitoring across all CUHK animal holding and satellite facilities. Our active surveillance program includes:
  • Quarterly pathogen screening
  • Sentinel programs
  • Comprehensive environmental monitoring

In line with our commitment to animal welfare and research transparency, current health reports are maintained in a secure database. Authorized researchers can access detailed test results via the online portal . Kindly note that there may be health status difference between holding rooms.

Please reach out to LASEC for password access or other information.
